Half Done Projects...

Half done projects are all over my house.  And lately, it has become harder and harder to get to any of them.  I have so much stuff to blog about and sell....once I COMPLETE some projects.  It has been frustrating!  And I realized that about 75% of my problem is organization.  Not that I can't keep myself organized but when you so much you want to do and so much you NEED to do....sometimes things like cleaning and organization take a back-burner.  

So I set out and made myself a weekly cleaning schedule. It has been working wonderfully!  I keep it on my Google Drive so I can look at it wherever I'm at.  And while I've been cleaning...I've noticed that keeping everything organized is pretty important to keeping stress levels down at home.  And having clean work-spaces totally makes using them more inviting.  I actually WANT to get some crafting down with my clean and organized spaces!

But anyhow....back to half done projects.  I wanted to share with you my two work spaces...and what they look like now that I started organizing them....

Here is my craft room.  Obviously this space is not finished and yes it's messy. But you should have seen the BEFORE picture.  I couldn't' even get in there.  This is major progress and I am so excited it's starting to come along. 

And I am in-love with my new shelves!! They just went up this morning!!  The color was a bit random (ASCP) and I only did one light coat of paint on them.  But I love them.  The little table is my latest find.  I can't decide if I want to paint it white or black.  What do you think?? 

Then there is my outside work-space......

This one was about as bad as the craft room.  Only there were much larger items scattered all over the place.  There was no organization here either.  But the Mr whipped out his tool-belt and turned our old closet doors into work benches for me.  How sweet was that??? Of course everything is going to be painted...but now that the weather is cooler that might have to wait till next year.  

I can't wait to get these spaces finished so I can show you the befores and afters.

A Must-Have Craft Room Storage Piece

If you've been reading this blog for awhile, you know I've mentioned once or twice that my craft room is a huge sight for sore eyes.  When we were renting our last place, we didn't have a third bedroom for my craft stuff. All I had was a desk that was literally out in the middle of our living room.  Now I have a dedicated space for my crafty things and I have absolutely NO storage for the room. Everything is everywhere and it drives me nuts. Bottom line is, I need to get some storage and organization.

This card catalog from One Dog Woof's blog....is the perfect storage piece for any crafter!

Maybe it's the colorful items in the drawers....but this has really gotten my attention! Makes me want to go get organized ASAP! One day...I will show you a before and after of my craft room. Just not anytime soon!

Picture Frame Storage - Using Chicken Wire

Today I wanted to share my chicken wire picture frame storage unit – AND some good news I’ve been waiting to share : ) First, I’ll start with the frame…..which is probably what you are here for lol.

Paint, an old ugly frame, and chicken wire were all that I used. And it’s been a mainstay at my front door, holding everything from keys to dog leashes.

When I first picked it up at a thrift store, I wasn’t sure this old frame could be used for anything. But it was cheap and pretty sturdy.

See the cream lining around the center of the frame? FABRIC. I’m not sure why they put fabric on frames like this, but I don’t like it lol.

SOOOOO…..I painted over it. What the heck right? I figured the worst that could happen would be…..I throw it away. But it didn’t turn out too bad.

I gave it two coats of white paint, a light sanding with my hand sander, and a layer of poly.

When we bought our puppy, one of the first things we did was buy chicken wire to line our balcony. We didn’t want the little guy falling two stories and it was an easy fix. I think the whole roll we bought was under $5 and we had a ton of extra wire left for my projects.

And now, we never lose our keys or sunglasses!

No one can tell there had ever been fabric present either. Win Win!!!

AND for the good news. Drum rolls please......

D & I are two weeks away from closing on our first house together! You know what that means right?! There will soon be a "Home Tour" page at the top of my blog!! It is going to need a ton of cosmetic work, and I can't wait to share it with you all :) A DIYer's DREAM lol.

A Stuffed Animal Organizer Up-Cycle

Hello everyone. Happy Sunday! I hope you had a great weekend :)

I’m excited to share my recent creation. A stuffed animal organizer. This organizer up-cycle only took 7 years, but I finally have my daughters stuffed animal collection under control. {For those of you who have children, you will know that stuffed animals are a BIG DEAL.}

The thought of spending money on this sort of sickened me though…I’ve been trying to just toss these things for a couple of years to begin with.

The collection used to be much larger, but I have been able to get rid of a few here and there without her noticing.

I checked my linen closet and found a bed skirt that I’ve never used.

I cut off the outer green edge.

 

I sewed the edges in order to get rid of the unevenness from cutting {not shown}.

I didn’t have a set plan. If all else failed, I’d just wrap them all up in it and stuff it in her closet ;) But we found space on the end of her bed.

I felt an immediate since of satisfaction. There was no need to try anything else. I just tied it to the end of her bed and it looked like it was meant to be there.

Can you believe ALL of those stuffed animals are in this thing??? Amazing!!

 

Be careful with this if you have real small children. My daughter wanted to get in it right away ;)

 

Her room is a work in progress, but I think it’s starting to come together a little. What do you think? I have yet to paint her furniture and make her a cover for her comforter. We are debating on colors…

This stuffed animal organizer up-cycle literally cost me ZERO dollars. I already had the material and nothing else was used other than my sewing machine and my time :)
