Bathroom Light Fixtures in Metallic Glaze

After using metallic glaze for the first time on a pair of side tables  I sort of wanted to paint everything in my house metallic.  The wall lights in our bathroom are old and outdated.  But they have a neat look to them that we kind of enjoy.  We thought about replacing them, but we thought they might add a little character to the space.

And....they were the perfect little victim's for my metallic glaze craze....

Not bad.  I think the metallic glaze helped jazz them up. You cannot tell they were ever gold.

DIY Wood Countertops

Who would have ever thought making your own wood countertops was possible?  I sure didn't until recently when I stumbled upon this awesome DIY tutorial by Gina over at The Shabby Creek Cottage.  She did her own counter-tops and they look fantastic!  Not only that, but it took 30 minutes!

Half Done Projects...

Half done projects are all over my house.  And lately, it has become harder and harder to get to any of them.  I have so much stuff to blog about and sell....once I COMPLETE some projects.  It has been frustrating!  And I realized that about 75% of my problem is organization.  Not that I can't keep myself organized but when you so much you want to do and so much you NEED to do....sometimes things like cleaning and organization take a back-burner.  

So I set out and made myself a weekly cleaning schedule. It has been working wonderfully!  I keep it on my Google Drive so I can look at it wherever I'm at.  And while I've been cleaning...I've noticed that keeping everything organized is pretty important to keeping stress levels down at home.  And having clean work-spaces totally makes using them more inviting.  I actually WANT to get some crafting down with my clean and organized spaces!

But anyhow....back to half done projects.  I wanted to share with you my two work spaces...and what they look like now that I started organizing them....

Here is my craft room.  Obviously this space is not finished and yes it's messy. But you should have seen the BEFORE picture.  I couldn't' even get in there.  This is major progress and I am so excited it's starting to come along. 

And I am in-love with my new shelves!! They just went up this morning!!  The color was a bit random (ASCP) and I only did one light coat of paint on them.  But I love them.  The little table is my latest find.  I can't decide if I want to paint it white or black.  What do you think?? 

Then there is my outside work-space......

This one was about as bad as the craft room.  Only there were much larger items scattered all over the place.  There was no organization here either.  But the Mr whipped out his tool-belt and turned our old closet doors into work benches for me.  How sweet was that??? Of course everything is going to be painted...but now that the weather is cooler that might have to wait till next year.  

I can't wait to get these spaces finished so I can show you the befores and afters.

A TV Stand (for Sale!!) and NEW HOUSE Sneak Peek

Some of you might remember this TV stand from my Teal & The Living Roaom Revel post waaaay back when I first started this blog. This TV stand made it through three years of apartment living and was always a conversation starter when we had company. Today.....she is for sale.

Onto other business.

My current order of duty is......WEDDING PLANNING!!! And I have a feeling that the next year will be consumed by it.

For all of you wondering...we are getting married next July! I have no idea what I'm doing! But I do know that there will be many crafts to do - and post! - for the big day. TONS actually. I'm totally stoked!

And finally...

The HOUSE.  It isn't completely done yet, but there has been progress. I thought I would share a couple of photos.

Now....it's a bit toned down. We put in new appliances, painted and that's pretty much it! What do you think?

It's actually my favorite room in the house now.

I also wanted to give you a sneak peak into our bathroom. It's not 100% finished, but you get the idea.  I had done an inspiration post ..here...before we bought the house.  It didn't turn out anything like my inspirations...but the general idea is there.

It went from....well I have no idea what it was before. But now it's a rustic/modern blend.

House Tour & I Was Featured

I was going to post our flooring pictures today, but I thought it would be more appropriate to give you a house tour first. That and the flooring didn't come along as well as we had planned. BUT it's been a learning process and next time, we will hire a flooring company to refinish hardwoods!

We got the house at a steal. Which is super exciting for me as the updating it needs isn't all that extreme. Luckily we have two months left on our rental lease, so I'm sure our schedules are going to be booked until then in order to get it ready. BUT.... I don't mind, this is right up my alley. 

We will start with the living room. I'm not sure what the previous owners were thinking, but the paint job and carpet are horrible. This picture doesn't really show the uneven paint application on the red wall. All we need to do in this room is paint, put up new trim, and redo the flooring.

The bathroom is super outdated but there is potential there. The flooring is a nice ceramic tile but everything else has to go. 

Master bedroom. Needs paint, flooring, and new trim. The ceiling fan is actually nice...so that will stay.  (The room is a lot larger then it looks in this picture). 

The second bedroom needs paint, flooring, trim, and a ceiling light fixture. 

Here is the third bedroom. Also known as my craft room. Needs paint, flooring, trim, and new ceiling fixture. 

The kitchen....I'm undecided about what to do here.  The flooring is a nice ceramic tile with no imperfections. The cabinets are solid oak. The ceiling fixture is newer. I think we will just paint this room and get appliances for now. 

All of these things will be done in the next two months. It will be like moving into a new house! I can't wait to start showing the before and after pictures to you!

House News and A Sneak Peak

We finally got our house! And I'm so excited to share this with you that I couldn't wait any longer. To prove it...I'm posting from my phone! I haven't been home enough in the last few days to upload photos to my laptop, so this will have to do.

Here's a sneak peak at our first project --- refinishing the hardwoods. Can you believe these were hidden under carpet?!? I can't!
